Youth Camp

Want your children to make new friends, learn new skills and just have fun? You should consider the Third District Youth Camp held each July at LOV. Youth Camp is divided into two age groups: one group is for children ages 8-11 and the other group is for our 12-15 year olds. The camp is for children affiliated with Sons of Norway and if space is available we open it to non members.
Our camper’s days are action packed. In the morning our counselors teach hands-on classes in:
- language,
- hardanger,
- rosemaling,
- wood working and
- archery
After lunch our counselors lead hikes at LOV and at nearby state parks. No week at Youth Camp is complete without a hike up to the LOV waterfalls!
One day each week, we go to Oquagua Creek state park, about 15 miles from LOV, for canoeing and swimming and, of course, a great picnic lunch.
The kids have plenty of free time to enjoy games, swim in the pool and hike around LOV; we even have an orienteering course!
The week usually ends with a skit produced and directed by the campers. Many happy memories are created and friendships are made!
When campers reach age 16 and cannot return, they want to come back as counselors! They even threaten to bring tents and camp behind the lodge! Of course, this doesn’t happen but it is a true testimonial on how much they enjoy the camp.
